Let's practice learning what we were taught today...linking

Connection to Big Ideas

Select a visual or a quote or whatever, create a link to it.
It can be the one you have already used on your personal blog.
(It does not have to be what you presented on). We are now sharing with the class.
Then tell your classmates and me why you selected it. What does it mean to you and how did it help you understand your big idea. Here is my sample on POWER

I selected this one because you think I have the power. I have the ideas but when it comes to computer tech and this media literacy you as a class have the POWER to teach each other, myself included. Together we can share our knowledge(which is a form of power) and have a great learning experience. Thanks to Liz for showing us how to html.

Follow the Leader

This is a picture showing loyalty. We are inclined to show loyalty to those who demonstrate they are different and stand out from the rest of us, may it be from their charisma or prowess in a set of skills. Also, as a leader, you should be able to trust that there will be those following you, and trust has a lot to do with loyalty. In being loyal to someone, you trust they are making the right decisions and will in turn be loyal to you.

I chose this link because I think that images replace things that can't be described, I think that this clip of "what is humanity?" was more powerful because they used a minimal amount of text and mostly really strong images. This clip shows that humanity is human nature, it lets us kill (in war), shows us to follow each other, makes us think it is bad to be different and keeps us in cages of conformity but overall the most important aspect of humanity is our capability to love.

I chose this image because I think it represents how powerful loyalty is. Not just through people who can easily communicate with each other, but through animals too. Loyalty also comes strongly with love, because without it, why would someone have the motivation to be loyal to another being. Trust is also a big factor in loyalty, and in this picture you can clearly see the trust, loyalty, and love, between the child and the dog.

because this is is link and you aren't able to see it right away, I advise you all to look at it, it is quite amusing :) just to let you know...enjoy!

I chose this image because 1) Its really funny and adorable and 2) it represents ambition. This represents ambition because this turtle is determined to eat the strawberry. Although the size limits the turtles abilities of eating the strawberry, that doesn't stop it from filling up his tummy. With ambition you have a clear image of what you want to do and set high standards for yourself. And no matter who or what stands in your way nothing is going to stop you from doing what you want and how you are going to get there.

I chose this image because it represents loyalty, or in this case, lack of. This image represents loyalty because it shows one of the ways one can lose loyalty. This image also shows what might happen when loyalty is taken advantage of and eventually lost.

When you sign the loyalty contract, stick to it or else it will not end well...

This is a picture of Barack Obama giving a speech to thousands of people. This is an example of a certain type of power, the power of the people. Sure I guess Obama is pretty powerful himself but without people who believe and him and support him, he wouldn't be nearly as influential and powerful as he is.
That is all.

Okay, for some reason i cannot show my link! But anyhoo, this was a quote that I found about loyalty. It was writen by Napolean Hill and it reads "Lack of loyalty is one of the major causes of failure in every walk of life". I think that this stood out to me because well, first of all it's very true! You can't go on living your life without being loyal to something may it be a group, or a tradition, or someone, and you can then get the loyalty returned to yourself. Some people, like dogs are very loyal! While others, like in Watson's picture he chose do not have loyalty, and therefore miss out on an important aspect of life, and then can lose something, or someone very important. That's all =)

Hi everyone that is my link. I chose this image because it really shows what ambition is. How would anyone be able to climb a mountain without having ambition?

I chose this image with guns because they have always been a problem in society. Guns give people power over others and are sometimes used for very inhumane acts of violence. Guns help me understand my topic of power because they are an example of problems with having too much power.

This link shows how media can corrupt youth of North America. However, it also shows that the images that we see in magazines or on tv are not real.

I chose this picture because it shows how people with power can take advantage of it and use it inappropriately. In this picture the boss is screaming and pointing his finger at the employee. The employee has no power to do or say anything back to his boss.

I chose a picture of money because it represents power. It shows how money is power. With it, you have the ability to manipulate and control others with bribes. The lyrics in the video below show how everything revolves around money, and its influence just like power.
